Sorry for no updates, I've been crazy busy preparing for our Maui move... I do have stuff to post about, but until I get the time, it ain't gunna happen. We dropped the Jeep off in Seattle this last weekend, it will arrive in Kahului on May 10th. Kara has a promising lead on a job over there, but it's not a for sure deal yet. We've sold a bunch of our stuff, but still have more to sell. I think my parents are throwing a going away party, probably on Saturday April 29th, keep an eye out for an invitation. We've made the tough decision to not bring Cooper to Hawaii, so tell me if you know someone that wants a super cute but very hyper Jack Russell Terrier. I think that's it for now...

This should come as no surprise... moving to Hawaii is a pain in the ass. But screw it, I’m not going to complain. Kara got her job, she starts on May 17th (she’s coming over on the 15th instead of the 29th, which means she’ll be there for my birthday, YAY!) I’ve got 1.5 weeks to go, the butterflies in my stomach are reproducing at an astronomical rate. We’ve still got too much stuff that hasn’t sold... Our Jeep is somewhere on the Pacific Ocean aboard a ship called Manoa.
Oh my gosh, this is really happening...
As Kara and I are getting ready to move again, it got me thinking about just how many times we’ve moved in the 8-ish years we’ve been married. I mean, we’ve moved a lot... In the past 8 years, we’ve lived in 9 places! (10 if you count the temporary stay at TJ & Michelle’s) Here’s a visual accounting of the places we’ve lived, it only shows eight addresses because we went back to Wallula after 196th...
I've been feeling all nostalgic lately about my high school years... I mean, it's not all of a sudden or anything, my 10 year reunion is this summer. And I've been seeing more of my old classmates lately, I guess as a warm-up for the reunion. A month or so ago I went out to dinner with Tyler and Sarah; it was pretty neat to catch back up, since the last time I saw them was at their wedding a few years back. And then a few weeks later, I went out to dinner with Cresslyn. I hadn't seen her for something like 4 years, but it felt just like old times... And while we were chatting at the restaurant, David walked in to pick up some food to go! So, we talked to him long enough for his food to get cold.
This last week we've been going through old boxes to prepare for the big move, and I came across a bunch of pictures I took during senior year for a slide show. I figured they might be of use at the reunion, so I emailed Kari and let her know they could use them if they wanted. So, she dropped by my office today to pick them up. We didn't chat long, but after she left I couldn't get over the thought that I used to see her five days a week for 4+ years, and now we're averaging one day every 5 years... That thought really does haunt me a bit, I went to such a small school, that I literally knew everyone in my graduating class. It really seems weird that there are 68 people out there that I used to know well, but now never see...
Tomorrow night, we are going out to dinner with Melissa. Last time I saw her was at her wedding. But we were pretty close for a while, she played piano at our wedding, she was at our first going away party... Neat that I'm catching up with all of these people right before I move away again!
So tonight I watched our graduation tape (the non-boring parts, at least). The people I still see regularly looked SO young on the tape. But those I haven't seen since then don't seem so young... Watching me and Anna sing reminded me of the times we practiced over at Micah's house. And when I saw the camera roaming the halls and classrooms, I remembered that I was the one leading the camera guy around. See, I was a class officer, which meant I got to skip class and do a bunch of fun "important" stuff. Man, that senior year was really a great time...
